‘Gwelio’ is the literal translation of the Cantonese word meaning ‘Ghost Guys’ which is used commonly as a slang word for North American and European descents who have lighter complexions.

This exploration contains a series of photographs documented in Canadian Asian groceries with a combination of found ephemera objects. Using my own diasporic experience as a departure point, I came across many hybrid perspectives and objects that evolved out of the cross-pollination in this era of ‘Global Villages.’ These ‘observational artifacts’ comment on the oscillation between the point of rendezvous and divergence of cultures and begins a dialogue regarding the pro et contra of our current state of flux in the society.
