The title is a reference to a system implemented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation named 'Carnivore' and the French word 'voyeur' which means ‘one who looks.’ This project romanticizes and comments on surveillance and each of our own acts of voyeuristic ‘creeping’ in today’s society where we are constantly being watched (in reality or on the internet) from above and information collected on everything we do and not do. The black & white film photographs borrow various windows of buildings as a form of proscenium or Rear Window into a moment of the private lives of complete strangers. Often the images in this series are captured without actual people in the shot and so the viewers are left with a hanging anticipation for what might happen next or left wondering if whatever 'event' has already occurred.
